White Octopus GmbH

At White Octopus, I worked at the intersection of industrial design, UX strategy, and service innovation. My role was to bridge the gap between user needs, business strategy, and product development. I collaborated with international stakeholders to research, conceptualize, and refine products and services in the mobility and security sectors.

User Research

Understanding user needs and behaviors was at the core of my work at White Octopus. I designed and conducted in-depth user interviews, field studies, and usability tests to gain actionable insights for product and service improvements. By applying qualitative and quantitative research methods, I identified user pain points and opportunities, enabling data-driven design decisions. My research played a critical role in projects for Deutsche Bahn, ABUS, and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, directly influencing their service and product strategies.

Service Design

I specialized in mapping end-to-end customer journeys and developing service blueprints to optimize complex user interactions. By breaking down user flows and identifying friction points, I helped companies streamline their services and enhance overall customer satisfaction. Through a mix of workshops, iterative prototyping, and scenario-based testing, I co-created scalable and user-friendly service models tailored to the specific needs of our clients.

Strategy Development

My role extended beyond UX and service design into strategic consulting, where I helped organizations shape their future offerings. I contributed to high-level decision-making processes, advising stakeholders on infrastructure financing, mobility innovation, and digital service transformations. My work involved creating strategic roadmaps that aligned business goals, technological feasibility, and user expectations, ensuring long-term success for our clients.

Key projects

  • DB Radfix: Developed a comprehensive user journey and service blueprint for a bicycle repair service at railway stations. This project involved field studies, persona development, and process optimization, resulting in a seamless repair booking experience for commuters.

  • ABUS: Led usability tests, UI evaluations, and user interviews for a keyless smart lock system in the rental sector. By analyzing user interactions with both the physical product and digital interface, I provided recommendations that improved usability and security.

  • Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung: Conducted an interview study with SPD transportation experts on the future of public transport. The insights from this research were compiled into a strategic white paper, shaping policy discussions and infrastructure planning.

  • FES Impuls | Zukunft des ÖPNV (2024): This publication was the result of my work with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, where I conducted an extensive interview study with SPD transportation experts. The findings contributed to a strategic white paper, shaping policy discussions on public transport infrastructure and future mobility strategies.

  • Nicht die üblichen Verdächtigen (2023): A collection of interviews with individuals—both knowingly and unknowingly—contributing to the mobility transition. The stories range from traffic planners and road marking manufacturers to delivery drivers, highlighting diverse perspectives on mobility change. Each interview was paired with a custom-designed graphic representation of the word that symbolized the mobility transition for the interviewee, which I created to visually encapsulate their viewpoint.
